'Roots of Expression: Exploring the Visual Legacy of the Harlem Renaissance'
This project centered on researching, designing, and writing about the lasting impact of the Harlem Renaissance on graphic design and visual art. I had the opportunity to select my own topic and chose to explore this artistic and cultural movement. In doing so, I studied the work of influential artists like Aaron Douglas and LeRoy Winbush, while incorporating my own interpretation of their design techniques and visual language. The color palette, fonts, African-inspired patterns framing the edges of the pages, and the geometric shapes featured in the table of contents are all drawn from the styles seen during the Harlem Renaissance, all further developed to create this monograph.
